What is Shaklee Cares®? Shaklee Cares® is our publicly supported, nonprofit organization whose mission is to help people directly affected by natural disasters and emergencies. Shaklee Cares partners with grass-roots citizen groups working in the impacted areas, offering assistance in the form of Disaster Packs (Shaklee products), cash relief and the volunteer efforts of local Distributors.
For example, after the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Shaklee Cares® raised and distributed nearly $500,000 in cash and products for immediate assistance to people in need.
Attendees at this year's Shaklee Global Conference will have an exclusive opportunity to make a difference in three ways:
- Participate in community rebuilding experiences on either Tuesday August 5th or Wednesday August 6th (or both).
- Purchase tickets to attend a special charity dinner on Saturday August 9th, which will raise funds to continue the rebuilding work for this incredible city and its wonderful people, even after we have gone.
- Purchase a Shaklee Cares® New Orleans Pack (#81165) for donation. You will receive PV from the purchase of the pack, and the New Orleans community will receive the benefit of the donation through Shaklee Cares. Then on Wednesday, August 6th, you and any other Shaklee volunteers will have the privilege of assembling all of the donated Get Clean Packs. These special packs are orderable via phone only, not orderable via the web

Community Action Volunteer Activity (Offsite—unlimited participation)
On Tuesday, August 5th and the morning of Wednesday, August 6th, Shaklee Distributors who wish to participate will be transported to a work project designed for our Shaklee Global Conference attendees in conjunction with Shaklee Cares® and local relief efforts.
- The work is indoors and does not require heavy lifting or strenuous physical exertion. There may be opportunities to work outside if desired.
Number of participants: Unlimited—but you must RSVP via the registration link on this site by June 30, 2008.
- Participants will bring: Comfortable working clothes, comfortable closed toe shoes, work gloves, hats, etc. Soon you will be able to pre-order a Shaklee Cares® T-shirt, work apron or canteen water bottle via ShakleeStyle.com to bring to New Orleans with you for this activity.
- Shaklee to provide attendees: Bus transportation from the Hilton New Orleans, drinks (water), snacks. Lunch will be provided on Tuesday, August 5th.

Build Shaklee Cares® New Orleans Packs Onsite (e.g. in the Morial Center, Hall C, building Get Clean Kits)
Shaklee All Attendee Activity:
Shaklee will partner with several organizations in the New Orleans area which are in the process of building new homes in the Lower Ninth Ward - the area of the city most heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina. These new construction efforts need money and supplies to equip the new homes.
Shaklee Cares® will assist in this effort by donating Shaklee Cares® New Orleans Packs to these organizations. Available immediately, Shaklee Family Members will be able to purchase and donate a Shaklee Cares® New Orleans Pack through Shaklee Cares®.

- This pack will not be shipped to the donor (purchaser). These packs will be shipped to New Orleans in bulk and assembled by volunteer attendees at the Conference for local delivery. Shaklee will set up a large exhibit hall in the Morial Convention Center as a pack assembly area. This area will be open during EXPO and certain other hours throughout the Conference.

Shaklee Distributors will work in assembly line fashion to un-box bulk product, assemble the packs. All attendees who wish to participate will assist in the pulling, packing and making these packs ready to be delivered to local relief organizations. Note cards will be available in the assembly area for those participating to write a special note and place it in each box.
